DimLinear command in CAD

DimLinear command in CAD (DLI command in CAD, Distance Measurement command in CAD): To specify dimension such as horizontal or vertical and oblique in autocad. Below is the way to use DimLinear command in CAD:

  • Command: DimLinear
  • Shortcut command: dli
  • Menu : Dimension\Linear

Depend on the pull direction (direction of elastic) at the prompt line “Specify dimension line location or” you specify the different straight dimensions. If horizontal pull, you specify vertical dimension. If up or down pull, you specify horizontal dimension.

Other choices:

Rotated

This choice is to specify dimension with dimension line which has an oblique angle in comparison with standard line.
Command DLI↵ or Dimlinear

  • Specify first extension line origin or <select object>: – Select point P1
  • Specify second extension line origin: – Select point P2
  • Specify dimension line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle/Horizontal/Vertaical/Rotated]:R↵ – At this prompt line, you choose parameter R
  • Specify angle of dimension line <0>: 60↵ – Enter oblique angle, example 600
  • Specify dimension line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle/Horizontal/Vertaical/Rotated]: – Choose one point to fix the position of dimension line.

Text

To enter dimension number or prefix and suffix character of dimension number

  • Specify dimension line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle/Horizontal/Vertaical/Rotated]: T↵ – At this prompt line, you enter parameter T
  • Dimension text <>: – Type value or ENTER to choose default

Mtext

Angle

Specify the oblique angle for dimension number line in comparison with horizontal direction

Specify dimension line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle/Horizontal/Vertaical/Rotated]:A↵ – At this prompt line, you enter parameter A

Specify angle of dimension text: – Enter the value of oblique angle for dimension number

Horizontal

Specify horizontal dimension, when choose H the prompt line appears:

  • Specify dimension line location or [Mtext/Text/Angle]: – Choose the position dimension line or use the choices.
  • Dimension text = …
