Solprof command in AutoCAD – Create the visible profile line, hidden profile lines for 3D solid model
1. The way to call Solprof command in AutoCAD.

Solprof command creates layers for visible and hidden profile lines of 3D model in model space at the selected viewport of layout.
Before carrying out Solprof command, you need to carry out 2 following commands:
Assign the variable Tilemode = 0 to change from model space Model tab to paper space layout tab.
Tilemode
- Enter new value for TILEMODE <1>: 0
- Regenerating layout.
- Regenerating model – caching viewports.
2. Call Mspace command to work in model space at the viewport of layout.
3. Call Limits command to limit drawing for paper space and zoom/all command to display whole drawing limit on current viewport.
Limits
Reset Model space limits:
- Specify lower left corner or [ON/OFF] <0.0000,0.0000>:
- Specify upper right corner <420.0000,297.0000>: 420,297
Zoom
- Specify corner of window, enter a scale factor (nX or nXP), or [All/Center/Dynamic/Extents/ Previous/Scale/Window/Object] <real time>: A¿
- Now you are in Model space of layout tab, you can use Solprof command
Solprof
- Select objects: Select 3D object
- Display hidden profile lines on separate layer? [Yes/No] <Y>: Display hidden profile lines on separate layer? Ener Y or
Yes
- If you enter Y, 2 blocks are created: a block with visible profile lines, the other with hidden profile lines of all selected collection (picture 9.1b). Block of visible profile lines is drawn following to bylayer linetype and block of hidden profile lines is drawn following to hidden linetype (if this linetype is downloaded). The blocks of visible and hidden profile lines lie on layers with separate names by using the way of naming as follows:
- PV – visible profile layer
- PH –Hidden profile layer

- If you enter N, all profile lines are changed to visible lines and a block is created for profile lines of each selected solid (picture 9.1c). Blocks of visible profile lines are drawn following to the same linetype as original solid and lie on layers with separate names by using the way of naming as above YES option.

After entering Y or N, the following prompt line appears:
Project profile lines onto a plane? [Yes/No] <Y>: Project profile lines onto a plane? Enter Y or
Yes
- Create profile lines for 2D object. 3D profile line is projected on a plane which is perpendicular with view direction and across the origin of current UCS.
No
- Keep of profile lines of 3D objects as wireframe.
The next prompt line defines the display of contacting edges. Contacting side is the tangential edge between 2 contacting surfaces. For example: If you fillet edges of a parallelepiped, the tangential edge will be created at the place where cylindrical surface contacts to planes of parallelepiped (picture 9.2)
Delete tangential edges? [Yes/No] <Y>: Delete tangential edges? Enter Y or N.
