1. The way to call Dimension Text Edit command in Autocad

Enter from keyboardSelect from MenuIcon
Dimension Text Edit (Dimted)

2. Meaning of Dimension Text Edit command in Autocad

DIMENSION TEXT EDIT command is to edit the position and the direction of dimension text.

Command statementExplanation
Command:Call the command -> Enter
Select dimension:Click to select dimension object to edit
Specify new location for dimension text [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]:Click to select new position for the dimension text (or use the choices).

5. The choices.

  • At the prompt line “Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/ Home/Angle]:” you can enter necessary choices.

LEFT choice: the dimension text is moved to the left.

  • Command: DIMEDIT (DED) then Enter.
  • Select dimension: Click to select a point on the dimension line to edit
  • Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]: L then Enter.

  • RIGHT choice: the dimension text is moved to the right
  • Command: DIMEDIT (DED) then Enter.
  • Select dimension: Click to select a point on the dimension line to edit
  • Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]: R then Enter.

  • CENTER choice: the dimension text is moved to the center of dimension line.
  • Command: DIMEDIT (DED) then Enter.
  • Select dimension: Click to select a point on the dimension line to edit
  • Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]: C then Enter.

  • ANGLE choice: the dimension text is moved to the center of dimension line.
  • Command: DIMEDIT (DED) then Enter.
  • Select dimension: Click to select a point on the dimension line to edit
  • Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]: C then Enter.
  • Specify angle for dimension text: Enter the value of oblique angle for dimension text then Enter.

  • HOME choice: the dimension text is moved to the original position of the specified dimension.
  • Command: DIMEDIT (DED) then Enter.
  • Select dimension: Click to select a point on the dimension line to edit
  • Specify new location for dimension text or [Left/Right/Center/Home/Angle]: H then Enter.
