The way to call Vports command in AutoCAD.

Vports command is used to create new viewport, or name and save a model space shape. These options are available in the dialog box depending on you are specifying the configuration of model space viewports (on Model tab) or layout viewports (on layout tab).

a) Static viewport on Model tab
When you call Vports command, viewports dialog box appears

  • New Viewports Tab

Display the list of standard viewport shapes and fix the shape for model space viewports.

  • New Name

Enter shape name for new model space viewports you are creating. If you do not enter name, the shape of created viewport is accepted without being saved. If viewport shape is not saved, it cannot be used in layout.

  • StandardViewports

List and set up standard viewport shapes including current viewport shape.

  • Preview

Display preview of selected viewport shape and the default projections are divided each separate viewport.

  • ApplyTo

Accept the shape of model space viewport to display all or display current viewport. In this list, there are 2 options:

  • Display: Display whole shape of viewport on Model tab. This display is default setting.
  • Current Viewport: Display only the shape of current viewport.

– Setup

Choose 2D or 3D setting. When you choose 2D, the shape of new created viewport is default with current projection on all viewports. When you choose 3D, a set of 3D standard perpendicular projections are applied for viewports.

  • Change View To

Replace projection in the selected viewport by the projection you select from this list. You can select a named projection or you can select from the list of standard projections. Use Preview region to see these options.

  • Visual Style

Select a visual style for viewport.

  • Named Viewports Tab

Display shapes of viewports saved in drawing. When you select a viewport shape, layout of the saved shape is displayed at Preview.

  • Current Name

Display the shape name of current viewport.

b) Moving viewport on Layout tab

When you call Vports command, name of layout tab, viewports dialog box appears.

  • New Viewports Tab

Display the list of standard viewport shapes and fix the shape for layout viewports.

  • Standard Viewports

Display the list of standard viewport shapes and fix the shape for layout viewports.

  • Preview

Display preview of selected viewport shape and the default projections are divided each separate viewport.

  • Viewport Spacing

Enter space among layout viewports which you fix the shapes.

  • Setup

  • Change View To
