To be convenient for drawing new drawings without recreating properties, we usually think about copying from the existing drawings. The companies usually have their own standard. This is quite necessary for new comer instead of recreating them.

Here, we would like to introduce the usage of DESIGNCENTER to pick properties from the existing drawing. With this tool, you can: Change layer from the existing AutoCAD drawing to new drawing. Change Dimstyle from other drawing to the working drawing, change Style text to the using drawing, change Block from sample drawing to current drawing.

The usage of DESIGNCENTER in details is as follows:

Step 1: From working model you open DESIGNCENTER window by pressing the combination of keys Ctrl + 2.

Step 2: At Folder List window, you select to the folder which contains drawing to pick properties.

  • The properties of that drawing appears => you select the type of properties to pick, then click the mouse at it.

For example: we pick layer.

Step 4: Select layer to pick:

To select many layers, you combine Ctrl key and the left mouse. After selecting, you click the right mouse to open menu Add then select Add layer

Result is that the selected layers appeared in the drawing that you are working. You can turn off the dialog box to check.

You do similarly for other properties.
Above is the way to change properties from this drawing to other drawing in CAD
