3DA command in AutoCAD – 3DArray command – Copy 3D objects as array

1. The way to call 3DA command in AutoCAD

Scroll down menu Screen menu Type command
Modify » 3D Operations » 3DArray Modify2 » 3DArray 3DArray

3DArray command copies 3D object as space array.

There are types of array: Rectangular array and Polar array.

2. Rectangular Array

Copy the object as rows following to X axis, as columns following to Y axis and as levels following to Z axis. Each array has at least 2 rows or 2 columns or 2 levels.

  • 3darray

Initializing… 3DARRAY loaded.
Select objects: Select object to copy as array.
Select objects: Select next object to copy as array or press ENTER
Enter the type of array [Rectangular/Polar] <R>: r
Enter the number of rows (—) <1>: 2 Enter the number of rows >0

Enter the number of columns (|||) <1>: 3 Enter the number of columns >0

Enter the number of levels (…) <1>: 2 Enter the number of levels >0

Specify the distance between rows (—): 80 Specify the distance between rows
Specify the distance between columns (|||): 100 Specify the distance between columns.
Specify the distance between levels (…): 180 Specify the distance between levels.

3DA command in AutoCAD – 3DArray command – Copy 3D objects as array

  • Note

If you enter the distances with plus value, the array is created along the plus direction of X, Y, Z axis. If you enter the distances with minus value, the array is created along the minus direction of X, Y, Z axis.

3. Polar Array

Copy the object around a rotation axis following to a rotation angle.

  • 3darray

Initializing… 3DARRAY loaded.
Select objects: Select object to copy as array.
Select objects: Select next object to copy as array or press ENTER.
Enter the type of array [Rectangular/Polar] <R>: P
Enter the number of items in the array: 12¿ Enter the number of items in the array > 0.
Specify the angle to fill (+=ccw, -=cw) <360>: Specify the angle to create the array.
Rotate arrayed objects? [Yes/No] <Y>: Y Rotate arrayed objects to center?.
Specify center point of array: Specify center point of array as the first point of rotation axis (1).
Specify second point on axis of rotation: Specify the second point of rotation axis (2).
