Materialattach command in AutoCAD – Apply material for the objects according to layers

The way to start Materialattach command in AutoCAD.

Materialattach command combines materials according to layers. All objects on layers that their material characteristic is set up following to BYLAYER have material defined to attach. BYLAYER is default for material characteristic when you create an object.

The order of applying materials according to layers is as follows:

1. Enter materialattach¿ command, the dialog box Material Attachment Options appears (picture 13.21).

2. In the dialog box Material Attachment Options, drag a material at the left window up to a layer at the right window.

3. Press OK to close the dialog box.

• List of materials “Materials Name”

List all materials which are used or not yet used in the drawing. Drag material up to a layer in Layers List to attach material with layer.

• List of Layers

List all layers in the drawing and in any outside reference used in the drawing. When materials are attached to layers, materials are displayed for this layer. You use key Detach to move materials out of layer.

• Note

If you want to change the combination of materials according to layers in the xref outside reference, this change is not saved in xref drawing.
