Al command in AutoCAD

Al command in AutoCAD – Align command – Align 3D objects following to scale

Align the object following to other objects in 2D and 3D.

Define 1, 2 or 3 pairs of source point and destination point to align the selected objects.

1. Align – Using a pair of points.

  • Align

Select objects: Select objects to align.
Select objects:
Specify first source point: Specify the first source point (1).
Specify first destination point: Specify the first destination point (2).
Specify second source point:

When you only select a pair of source point and destination point, the selected objects in 2D or 3D move from the first source point (1) to the second destination point (2)

Scale objects based on alignment points [Yes/No] <No>: Y¿ Enter Y to scale the objects following to pairs of aligned points (picture 6.18) or press ENTER to not scale.

Al command in AutoCAD – Align command – Align 3D objects following to scale

When you select two pairs of points, you can move, rotate and scale the selected objects in 2D or 3D to align with other objects.

The first pair of source point and destination point defines the base point to align (1, 2). The second pair of points defines the rotation angle (3, 4).

After you enter the second pair of points, you are reminded to scale to zoom the objects. The distance between the first point and the second point (2, 4) is used as reference length for the scaled objects.

  • Note:

If you use two source point and destination point to carry out 3D alignment on the surfaces which are not perpendicular, you will get the unpredictable results.
3. Align – Using three pairs of points
When you select thress pairs of points, you can move and rotate the selected objects in 3D to align with other objects.

The selected objects are moved from source point (1) to destination point (2).
The selected objects are rotated (1 and 3) to align with destination point (2 and 4).
The selected objects are rotated one more time (3 and 5) to align with destination point (4 and 6).

  • Align

Select objects: Select object to align.
Select objects:
Specify first source point: Specify the first source point (1).
Specify first destination point: Specify the first destination point (2).
Specify second source point: Specify the second source point (3).

Specify third source point: Specify the third source point (5).

Good luck!
